More from the Lotus Village
The Lotus Village is a pretty comfortable place to stay even though the rooms are very basic. The bungalows are built in the same style as the teak farmhouses that the farmers in the countryside live in. They're even on stilts with water underneath them, which is full of lotus plants.
Sukhothai is a pretty nice place, relative to other Thai cities. It's still dirty and the streets are filled with noisy motorcycles, but it has a more relaxed atmosphere than Ayuthaya or Phitsanulok, especially at the Lotus Village.
I was only going to stay here one night, but I think I'll stay another before I go to Mae Sot, mostly because it's cheap, and so I can get some laundry done! I think I might rent a motorcycle and go see the ruins of Old Sukhothai this afternoon.
